North Market Farmers Market

From 1813-1873, the present area of the North Market housed a burial ground known as the North Graveyard. After negotiations with city developers, grave expulsion and movement started in 1872. In 1876, a market house as well as other small businesses and restaurants were based on the land. This open space at 29 Spruce Street turned into the North Market. The North Market was the second of four open markets worked all through the city and is the main staying open market.

The Central Market, worked in 1850 at Town and Fourth Streets as a mix City Hall and open market, was torn down in 1966 to clear a path for urban reestablishment and today is the area of Columbus' Greyhound bus station.
